Chopper Spirals Wildly into Palm Fronds at Well-Known California Coast
An aircraft flying over a popular southern California beach unexpectedly started spinning uncontrollably, eventually dropping height and crashing into a row of palm trees as onlookers looked on.
Videos posted online show the chopper starting to spin above the beach then descending towards the perimeter of the coast, where it ends up lodged between palms and a set of stairs close to the Pacific Coast highway.
Emergency Response Update
Local firefighters said five individuals were transported to a medical facility involving two who were in the aircraft and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” after the incident on that day.
Three persons on the street were hurt. Specifics on their condition were not yet released.
The cause of the crash was not immediately released.
