Barça Set to Play Historic Game at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
The club confirmed their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou on Saturday. They will welcome the Bilbao team in domestic competition over two years after they moved out so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. When completed, it will accommodate over 104,000 attendees, a rise from the old capacity. Officials confirmed recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.
Stadium Testing
Barcelona held an open training session at the Camp Nou earlier this month. They mentioned they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side next month at the stadium. Previous fixtures took place at the Olympic Stadium.
