Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.”
The news of his discharge follows the sports world offered sympathy for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
